Comedian Bill Hader Discusses METALLICA & MISFITS, Being Too Old To Mosh

Posted by on August 3, 2018 at 1:20 pm

If you've watched the hilarious new HBO show Barry, you may have noticed that comedian Bill Hader's character has a metal poster in his room.

Hader, like many other celebrities we've documented, went through a pretty metal phase as a kid. He tells Spin that he chose to have a Metallica poster in his character's room because his character is "stunted at a certain age, at the age of 15, and for me, that’s when I was listening to Metallica." Maybe not the most ringing endorsement of metal, but at the same time I think we've all been there.

Hader also says he got into Misfits because of Metallica, specifically when he heard them cover "Last Caress" and "Green Hell" on the Garage Days Re-Revisited EP. Hader says he's still into heavier stuff, but really doesn't mosh anymore

“I got invited to [the Misfits reunion show] in L.A. a couple months ago and I’m going to be totally honest, I was like, there’s going to be moshing and I’m afraid of being caught in a mosh pit. It’s gonna get rowdy and I got three kids and I’m old and you know what? Watching them on YouTube is enough for me. I don’t have to deal with someone punching me in the face.”

Bill Hader – he's just like you. Except rich and doesn't wanna get punched, which is fair.
