Welcome back to The Core Breakdown! It’s with great pleasure that we share with you the first track off the new Cryptodira record, The Devil’s Despair.
Cryptodira has to be the most unique band featured among all the hardcore acts we’ve shared via this column. “Medusa Misgendered” is a prime example of the intense and superb experimental hardcore the band is capable of. While the track delivers times of utter brutality, combining a relentless barrage of drumming and guitar shredding, the track also shifts into an elegant aura. The song rips away in a delicious hardcore melody, while also droning with a radiant ethereal presence.
