Halestorm's powerhouse frontwoman Lzzy Hale is open to returning to handle mic duties once again for Skid Row if the band needs her.
Hale temporarily joined the glam metal icons for a handful of summer shows, filling in for former vocalist Eric Grönwall during his departure for health reasons. Her short tenure brought renewed energy to the band, drawing praise even from Jon Bon Jovi, who reportedly urged her to stay on. However, Hale ultimately stepped back, citing her unwavering commitment to Halestorm.
In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Hale shed light on the experience and left the door open for future collaborations with the band. "We left it like, 'I can't marry you, but we can totally have an affair sometime,'" she told writer Emily Swingle. "If the guys send up the bat signal in a time of crisis, I'll be there."
Hale shared the unexpected story of how she ended up fronting Skid Row. "Well, I've known Rachel [Bolan, bassist] and Snake [guitarist Dave Sabo] for the better part of a decade," she explained. "One day, Rachel and I are eating cake at a birthday party. Out of the blue, he just asks me, 'Would you ever consider playing some shows with us?' My dumb brain goes, 'Halestorm and Skid Row, that'd be cool!' Obviously, that's not what he means."
Realizing he was asking her to temporarily take on lead vocal duties, Hale was taken aback. "He's like, 'No, dummy, I mean you fronting Skid Row!' Not even a week later, he calls me up, and it's actually happening. He asks, 'Are you in?' So I called my 'adults' in management and cleared my schedule immediately."
Despite the successful stint, Skid Row has yet to name a permanent replacement for Grönwall, and while Hale's priorities remain with Halestorm, we now wonder about
the potential for a future collaboration.
