BODYSNATCHER's Drummer Names Who He Considers The Big Four Of Deathcore

Whited has some interesting (and warranted) choices.

Chris Whited

Bodysnatcher drummer Chris Whited recently sat down with Kevin Diers of Audacy to discuss everything from the band's new album Bleed-Abide to what he considers the "big four" of deathcore. Because unlike the fairly solidified opinions of what the big four of thrash are – Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer (with a few variations depending on who you ask) – the big four of deathcore isn't really defined.

On the latter, Whited said he thinks the big four are Through The Eyes Of The Dead, All Shall Perish with original vocalist Craig Betit prior to Eddie Hermida joining, Whitechapel, and Suicide Silence. All of which are certainly solid choices, though I'd say Antagony and Despised Icon should make it in there somehow as well.

"I would say Through The Eyes Of The Dead was a deathcore band before anyone knew was deathcore was. This was like, 2004 I think. And then I would say the very first All Shall Perish record before Eddie was in the band, the Hate, Malice, Revenge [record]. And then you just have the put Whitechapel and Suicide Silence."

Check out the full interview below. You can also check out our review of Bleed-Abide here, which our reviewer capped by saying "Deathcore clearly isn't going anywhere as long as Bodysnatcher preserves the genre's initial spark."
