Welcome to another roundup of Underground Buzz, where we spotlight some killer smaller bands. Want to be covered on this section? Reach out with a message on our Facebook page.
We all love our technical death, modern symphonic, and post-modern-grunge-sludge-grind-core (I may have made that last one up, but who knows!), but sometimes you have to kick it old school and bring back some of what got metal started and this behemoth genre going. Here are five bands doing just that:
Anmasker – Thrash – Zaporizhia, Ukraine
Formed in 2016, Anmasker is pure old school thrash for the masses. Formed in 2016, Anmasker aims at shaking the moldy looks of their local scene, and anywhere good old thrash is properly appreciated, with their high-octane thrashing creations. Snap your finger, crack your neck, and get ready to slam together with the boys!
Girish and the Chronicles – Heavy Metal – Gangtok, Sikkim, India
India has been churning out some seriously awesome metal lately! Formed in 2009 by vocalist Girish Pradhan, Girish and The Chronicles (GATC) are known for their electrifying and energetic performances on stage. With a mixture of the sound of power ballads and the hard rock and that 80s classic metal sound, they give us a sound that not many bands today can capture.
Evil Invaders – Speed Metal – Leopoldsburg, Limburg, Belgium
Formed in 2007, Evil Invaders gives us the ultimate expression of speed and aggression. As an unstoppable roller coaster ride of tempo switches and twists from start to finish, their sound is, as they would say, Fast, Loud, 'n' Rude. Evil Invaders represents everything angry from classic heavy and thrash metal, but turned up to 11.
Leatherjacks – Heavy Metal – São Paulo, Brazil
Founded in 2016 by Lead Singer, Guitarist and Songwriter Mauro Cordeiro is an innovative, modern heavy metal project with serious 80s vibes. Cordeiro's main goal is to bring back a more classic style of rock and metal that many feel are missing in today’s hit and miss musical world. What do you think? Does he nail it?
Royal Hell – Heavy Metal – Scranton Pennsylvania, USA
Check it out! Something other than The Office that good ole Scranton can be known for! Formed in 2016, Royal Hell have quickly made a name for themselves in the local scene with their blazing back beats and melodic choruses. Heavily influenced by the godfathers of metal from the 70s, this band is both haunting and badass.
