Gimme Metal's Top Tracks of the Week

SIGH, SARGEIST Among Gimme Radio's Top Tracks of the Week

Every Thursday, Gimme Radio Program Director, Brian Turner, delivers the top 5 jaw-dropping tracks on Gimme Radio.

Culled from the week’s past shows, these tracks have the Gimme Radio DJs' seal of approval, have the listeners demanding more and the Gimme office buzzing.

Sigh "Homo Homini Lupus"

Mirai Kawashima and his cohorts confound metal conventions again. They've previously pumped Booker T organs into their Venom channeling, dabbled in glitzy disco, ELO (?), and other elements. The new record 'Heir To Despair' touts a heavy 70's prog vibe, but this track is pure crazed thrash attack, and while its You Tube notes fail to mention it, this is indeed Phil Anselmo adding extra vocals.

Blade Killer "High Risk"

Title track from forthcoming slab of NWOBHM updated skree, from the streets of LA nonetheless.

Sargeist "Unbound"

With a revamped lineup of sorts, the Finns of legend still bring the frost through a decidedly melodic guitar figure intro on this track, with singer Shatraug still bombing the proceedings with full on throat shred.

Ossuary Anex "Revelation of the Inquisition"

Degenerate Russian death metal returns with the 'Holy Blasphemition' EP; Kirill's vocals scrape barnacles off the bottom of a subterranean barrel while blastbeats and ferocious guitars buzz around the proceedings.

Irkallian Oracle "Sol"

2016 Swedish slaughterhouse music, dug up to celebrate their current US ("To Kill the New World") tour that blew through Oakland this week that was by all accounts amazing. Detuned divebombing bass plods its way into an insect guitar swarm, some alien broadcast of voices down the hallway.
