He couldn't deny the raw power of "Angel of Death."

Lamb of God's Randy Blythe makes no secret that his roots are in the punk rock scene. Such is evident when looking at the tracklisting for the new covers album the band is releasing. Blythe revealed recently that the band that actually got him hooked on heavy metal was the band that he will be opening for on their final tour starting later this week, F'N SLAYER!

Blythe told Loudwire in a recent interview that he would see kids with Slayer patches all over and finally he was in a record store and so Reign In Blood sitting there and he decided to give it a shot. The moment he heard "Angel of Death,"  he was convinced:

“[I thought], ‘They’re gonna suck, I don’t like heavy metal.’ The first [‘Angel of Death’] vocal, ‘Ahhhhhhh!’ I was like, ‘Okay, that’s whacky. He’s been huffing helium or whatever,’ but the rest of it is just so aggressive and edgy and weird historical commentary.”

Blythe also calls it an honor for Lamb of God to be on Slayer's final tour, an honor he didn't know he would have until the moment they announced it.

“It’s really an honor,” Blythe says. “We didn’t know this was going to be their final tour until the day they announced it … They’re legends; I’ve been a fan of theirs since high school. They’re one of those bands that cut across all different areas of the underground.”

Blythe revealed he shared many a Jager with Kerry King until Blythe stopped drinking, although he still visit's King's home with Dez Fafara of Devildriver to have fancy cheeses.

There's still time to enter to win tickets to the second leg of Slayer's final tour. Enter to win here.
