Wolfgang Van Halen has revealed to RockSverige that he's a huge fan of the more technical side of metal. In the interview, Van Halen said he's really into bands like Gojira, Meshuggah, and Periphery, the latter of which he's even friends with!
"Oh, yeah. I love Gojira. And I'm crazy about Meshuggah. Periphery, I'm friends with those guys and they're a phenomenal band," he said.
Van Halen later added that yes – he can play "Bleed" on drums.Van Halen performed all the instruments on his upcoming Mammoth WVH's debut album, so I guess him being good at drums really isn't that surprising.
"Oh, yeah. I can play it," he said. "As a drummer, Meshuggah is just like my favorite because it's like a math problem, as a song. As a drummer, it's really fun to figure out the polyrhythmic stuff going on in each song. It's a treat, and I love it."
Mammoth WVH will release its self-titled debut album on June 11. Pre-orders are available here, and you can stream the latest single "Mammoth" below.
