METALLICA Are Making HOW MUCH?! Each Night of Their Massively Successful 2018 Arena Tour?

Do they just have a money printing press at HQ at this point?

A fun thing to do is track how much money Metallica makes per show. We've been doing it for a while now.

Their massive stadium tour last year pulled in anywhere between four and six million dollars a night, grossing a total of approximately $50 million. Earlier this year, on their European arena tour, they were averaging over $2 million a night. Holy crap!

Now, the Billboard numbers have come in for their arena tour, hitting mostly smaller markets – places they didn't hit on their massive football stadium tour. These venues are more hockey and basketball arenas. Much like the Euro tour, each stop is making around two million a night. Here are the numbers according to Boxscore:

Artist: Metallica & Jim Breuer
Venue: Pittsburgh, PA – PPG Paints Arena
Date: Oct. 18th, 2018
Gross Sales: $2,359,924
Attendance/Capacity: 18,502 / 18,765
Ticket Prices: $138, $71

Artist: Metallica & Jim Breuer
Venue: Philadelphia, PA – Wells Fargo Center
Date: Oct. 25th, 2018
Gross Sales: $2,163,595
Attendance/Capacity: 18,545 / 18,545
Ticket Prices: $145, $75

Artist: Metallica & Jim Breuer
Venue: Albany, NY – Times Union Center
Date: Oct. 29th, 2018
Gross Sales: $1,936,231
Attendance/Capacity: 15,661 / 15,661
Ticket Prices: $131, $61

It should be noted that these are gross returns, so they don't take into account the venue's cut, what you pay the crew, production costs, manager fees and all that. They also don't take into account all the extra profit that comes from merch sales. See remaining dates here.

Regardless, Metallica is a money-printing machine at the moment. Seriously, they make a lot of money. Even former bassist Jason Newsted has said that he never has to work again.
