Tech-Death Tuesday: UNFATHOMABLE RUINATION Return Enraged & Unbound Towards An Ever Bleaker And Brutal Future

Hey there, tech fiends. It's that time of the week again. Before we dive into today's focus, here's the usual weekly reminder that if you're looking for even more sick bands to hear, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.

I've got a very special item for you today in the form of an early album stream of Unfathomable Ruination – Enraged & Unbound. The album drops this Friday, November 22nd through Willowtip Records. As usual, you can scroll down and hit play or read on to learn a bit more about the album.

To me, Unfathomable Ruination is without a doubt one of the very best tech-death bands in the world. I was a fan of them prior to the release of Finitude in 2017 but that effort really hammered home how special this band is. Now they're back with their third album, Enraged & Unbound, and yet again they have delivered another memorable album that puts a big smile on my face.

There are a few important factors at play with this band that enable them to stand out from the pack on Enraged & Unbound. While there's plenty of technical brutal death metal in the world, there's only a handful who mix and match between standard shred overloaded tech death and cavernous brutal death metal as ambitiously as Unfathomable Ruination do.

To really explain the full spectrum of their eclectic sound would require namedropping an ungodly number of groups yet that alone accounts for only a third of their X factor in my estimation. Another part without a doubt is their ability to subtly evolve and refine their approach and style with every new release. The last and most important part that defines their brilliance is their masterful songwriting abilities. They never write easy-to-digest songs, they're frequently shifting up how their songs unfold, and are just at ease crafting memorable shorter songs like the three-minute-long title track as they are with lengthier cuts like the astounding six-minute-long opening track, "An Obsidian Perception".

For a bit more background information about the album, the band shared that "Enraged and Unbound delves into the darker side of the human psyche. Each song plumbing the depths of the deepest mental illness and exploring the primitive violence that lies within us all.

Musically, each instrument has been pushed to it's limit: breaking barriers to create something emotive, unique, and above all else one of the most significant death metal releases of 2019.”

Enraged & Unbound is captivating and thrilling from start to finish, which accounts for my desire to keep coming back to this album over and over ever since I first heard it. I can't praise this album enough so you should click play below and dive in for yourself. If you like what you're hearing, the album can be ordered through Bandcamp and the Willowtip Records website. You can follow the group over on the Unfathomable Ruination Facebook Page.
