Extreme Of The Extreme: Tech-Death Monsters AEPOCH Drop New Single "The Scryer"

They come from the land of the ice and snow, tech death band Aepoch are finally returning with their new EP The Scryer. Two years ago, Aepoch made a huge splash in the death metal scene with their debut album, Awakening Inception. Last week, fans were welcome to the first taste of new music, with the single "A Brainwashed Civilization". A song that couldn't have been more fitting for the times we live in. Now though, the band are ready to show off the title track for the new EP.

"The Scryer" is a bit more aggressive than fans of the band may be used to. While other songs from the band's catalogue often meld between progressive death and technical death, "The Scryer" opts to go for a straight tech death sound, similar to that of Death or Abysmal Dawn. That being said, the song uses some sections that Aepoch use well in their previous work. "The Scryer" essentially works well to bridge their original demo/EP with their newer work, showing the transition from straight tech death to their current blend of tones.

Vocalist and bassist, Brett MacIntosh, gave a bit of insight into the music and the lyrics: "The lyrical content on The Scryer consists of topics similar to what we have touched on in the past, such as history inspired topics, corruption of society, and the breakdown of the atmosphere/environment.

At the original time of writing the songs on The Scryer the main influences were Death, Through The Eyes Of The Dead and Abysmal Dawn, and much less progressive and technical than our more recent influences. Our next album will be a bit more tech, like Awakening Inception.”

Fans old and new can check out the new single below, pick up the new album (for only $1 if you preorder it) on their Bandcamp, and even consider picking up some merch. This is a killer band dropping yet another killer release, with the official release of the EP being July 31st.
