received_760489788036987

Hard to believe that it's August already. Feels like just yesterday we were all free to enjoy gigs and things weren't getting constantly postponed. Back before the massive shitstorm of 2020 started though, we premiered a wicked new song from the Canadian melodic death metal band Lutharo, entitled "Wings of Agony" off the EP of the same name. Since then, the band has released the full album to much praise, but have continued to stay busy during lockdown. Lutharo are now ready to debut and release the music video for "Blood Lightning" off the new album.

Extreme Of The Extreme: Melo-Death Monsters LUTHARO Return With "Blood Lightning"

It's hard to find a better song to describe Lutharo than "Blood Lightning" honestly. This is a song that takes full advantage of Krista Shipperbottom's strong vocal lead. Being able to alternate from a strong clean style akin to a lot of NWOBHM bands, over to a dominating harsh growl. Backed up by guitarist Victor Bucur, providing another layer of vocals to emphasize and increase the sheer power of the vocal performance on "Blood Lightning". The song alternates between a more melodic tone and much quicker, thrashier sections, everyone has a chance to shine and show their strengths through this song.

Lutharo describes the video and song as such: "The song 'Blood Lightning' is about having such an extreme passion for something so much so that it sets your soul on fire, for better or for worse. It is the endless struggle of putting your blood, sweat, and tears into something and receiving next to nothing in return. However, when you do catch a glimpse of your progress, it is enough to keep pushing forward even when you are constantly being beaten down and put to war. The music video for 'Blood Lightning' showcases all of the physical, emotional, financial, etc. Hard work that is put into pursuing your dreams in music. The shots taken to look like the set of a video shoot are meant to resemble the business aspect/ behind the scenes work of being a musician, but also the high of performing live and seeing your visions come to life. While the single shots of each member in the middle of a storm are meant to display the emotional sacrifices and hardships that each individual goes through."

The video for "Blood Lightning" is available for you to watch now below. Also be sure to pick up the new EP Wings of Agony, Bandcamp are waiving their fees once again this Friday (August 7th) so it doesn't hurt to splurge a little, right?
