Black Ice Cream - The Most Metal Summer Treat Has Arrived
As a response to the recent craze of "rainbow" everything, New York City ice cream parlor Morgenstern’s has created a black ice cream, and it looks delicious:
I know what you're thinking… this isn't made from squid ink is it? Nope! It's actually all natural and the coloring comes from coconut ash, which is the charred and processed remains of a coconut shell:
“Activated charcoal is just something organic that has been charred and processed with high heat so that it behaves like a filter. I had been monkeying around with coconut ash for a while and then I had this fancy chocolate bar that used coconut ash. I knew I had to use it.”
We're into it. I'm definitely going to make my way down there for a full report.
For now, some more photos…
