Ozzy Osbourne is having quite literally one of the the most fucked up years of his life (his words). Earlier this year, after battling pneumonia, Ozzy fell in the middle of the night and dislodged metal rods in his back, neck, and shoulders that were in place from an old injury.
Ozzy has since spoken about the insane, blinding pain he was in throughout the process, though he now tells Daily Mail via NME that he thought he was legitimately dying during the first six months of his recovery.
"The first six months, I was in agony. I'd say, 'Sharon, you're not telling me the truth. I'm dying, aren't I?' I thought I'd got some terminal illness because the improvement was so slow. I'm getting better, but after the surgery, the nurses asked me on a scale of one to ten how much pain I was in, and I said, '55!' Six months of waking up in the morning and being unable to move is a miserable existence."
Ozzy also recounts the night he fell. It's not that the subject matter is at all funny, but the way he recounts very calmly explaining to his wife that he might be paralyzed is at least a little humorous.
"I went to the bathroom in the night, lost my balance and landed flat on my face. I saw this big white flash when I hit the floor and I thought, 'You've finally done it now.' I knew it was bad, I thought I was paralyzed, so very calmly I [told my wife], 'Sharon, I can't move. I think I've done my neck. Phone an ambulance.'"
In better news, Ozzy is planning to release his first new solo album in 10 years come January 2020, which he said is the "greatest album I’ve done."
