Dave Mustaine Says New MEGADETH Record Is "Heavy As Hell," Reveals Working Title For One Song

Megadeth's new record is potentially due out later this year and from what we've heard, it's going to be really heavy. It'll also be their first with ex-Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren, meaning that it'll also be pretty fast. Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine told Kerrang! that his son recently came over heard a song tentatively titled "The Dogs Of Chernobyl," and commented that it's "heavy as hell."

"We're trying to keep with that real heavy thing. Dystopia was more of us doing what makes us feel good; there's a lot of super-heavy, fast drumming at the end of some songs."

"My son was in here two days ago, and when we were doing Dystopia, he was listening to the songs and making comments, and the ones he commented on were the ones that got the best response. When he came over this time, we were working on a song that has the tentative title 'The Dogs Of Chernobyl', and the intro riff has kind of a Hungarian guitar part, kind of like something Mercyful Fate did on 'Into The Coven'. The song comes in super powerful and strong, and my son goes, 'Oh god, that's heavy as hell!' and I just started laughing."

Megadeth has Dirk Verbeuren in their ranks right now. If this new album isn't one of the fastest and heaviest things they've done in a while, then I personally will be very disappointed. Especially if you're going to start drawing comparisons between a heavy song and what Mercyful Fate has done.

Oh, I feel like I should mention that Megadeth also has a new greatest hits compilation coming out titled Warheads On Foreheads.
