ANNIHILATOR Announce New Album, Feast

Annihilator, my favorite non-Big Four thrash band, are about to drop a new album (with a fucking metal cover) towards the end of the month and boy and I excited.

"Oh great, another album of aging rockers playing really fast." you say, but this one comes with a fun twist.

For their 14th album FeastJeff Waters and his Canadian cohorts are including a second disc in the deluxe edition called Re-Kill. A silly name, yes, but it will be the 2012 re-recordings of Annihilator's classic songs.

Some bands have done this whole re-recording old songs with a newer line-up and fell flat (I'm looking at you Kiss, JourneyDef Leppard), but these bands didn't have as strong as a line-up as modern-day Annihilator. While Waters and vocalist Dave Padden remain the only consistent members of the band for the past decade or so, the duo have churned out a few solid records with the drummer's throne ever-revolving. 2007's Metal was also unfortunately named, but it was a bad ass album, and the most recent eponymous album was also quite good.

This gives me hope for something solid rather than a simple cash grab on long-time fans. The thought of hearing Waters tear through "Alison Hell" and "Never, Neverland" with modern production capabilities has me all giddy.

The actual new album should be cool too considering the band's recent track record.

Peep the track-listing here and check out Jeff Waters himself playing new clips and discussing the new record in the included video. Spoiler: He says "aboat" at one point and drops Red Hot Chili Peppers as an influence for one of the songs.
