SHOCKWAVE FESTIVAL Officially Cancelled

We got a bit excited about a new summer festival trying to establish itself, the Shockwave Festival. It was to feature Fear Factory and Voivod co-headlining with some awesome support acts, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, Revocation, Havok, Dirge Within, Last Chance To Reason, Vildhjarta, The Browining and Forged To Flame, but it seems that is no more. A few weeks ago, four of the support bands announced they couldn't make the trek due to reasons beyond their control. Last week, Voivod announced they were dropping off, then Misery Index, then Cattle Decap and then finally Fear Factory, leaving the tour promoters with no choice but to officially announce the cancellation. Here is the official statement from the tour organizers:

It is with great disappointment that we have to make this announcement. With the recent departure of Voivod from the Shockwave Festival lineup. As well as low advance ticket sales we have decided to pull the plug on the Shockwave Festival.
For purchases made with a credit card, your card will automatically be refunded. All other refunds are available at point of purchase.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

One complaint we heard from a band that dropped off the tour was the routing was too insane to turn any sort of profit over. The drives would have been brutal and any guarantees the band made would have to all go towards gas, so some of the openers feared they would lose money by playing this tour, which is something a band always tries to avoid.

Nevertheless, the biggest loser here is you, the fan. This was a crushing package, and would've been a fun time to attend, now…not so much. Look for some of these bands to announce new tours in the wake of this cancellation. We'll keep you posted when they do.

Wednesday 13 and Black Satellite will be there, too.

Cattle Decapitation has a lot of great material, in case you forgot.
