Slayer is set to kick off the first leg of their final North American tour this week. (By the way, we sent out emails to ticket winners of the first leg on Monday, so check your email to see if you won. You can still enter to win free tickets to the second leg of the tour.) But our friends across the Atlantic were wondering when they would be able to celebrate Slayer's final shows.
Metal Insider reports the rumor is the band will be taking Lamb of God, Anthrax and Obituary on those run of dates. Some dates have leaked as well:
11/14 Dortmund, Germany
11/15 Zwolle, The Netherlands @ IJsselhallen
11/24 Freiburg, Germany
11/26 Hamburg, Germany
11/29 MĂĽnchen, Germany
11/30 Erfurt, Germany
12/02 Berlin, Germany
Presumably, with dates trickling out, we should have the official announcement soon. We'll keep you posted on confirmed dates.
One thing I keep thinking about is that in a recent interview Lamb of God's Randy Blythe said he didn't know this was Slayer's final tour until the official announcement was made to the public. This leads me to believe it was a late-in-the-game, final decision, likely made by Tom Araya, who has made no secret of how little he enjoys touring.
All of this is to say that if you want to go see Slayer, this might be your last chance. I can see them doing a one-off festival here and there but I just can't see them touring after this.
