All year, Slipknot fans have been asking themselves who the hell is Slipknot's new member, affectionately dubbed the Tortilla Man by fans. In August, fans seemed to put together a pretty solid theory as to the identity of the new member – saying it was a former bandmate of Clown's side project, Michael Pfaff.
New video footage further lends credence to the theory that Pfaff is indeed Tortilla Man.
As we all know, Slipknot headed to Mexico this past weekend to play a special Knotfest set, that unfortunately never happened due to a riot that broke out. Footage has surfaced of the band arriving at the airport, and you can see Pfaff exiting among other members of Slipknot including Corey Taylor and Mick Thomson.
Slipknot has not been too quick to offer too many hints on Tortilla Man's identity. The most that was said was by Jim Root on The Art And Span Show, where Root said:
“He’s a character, man. I didn’t really know him very well before he started playing with us. But he’s a hell of a musician, man. The guy is a world-class pianist; he’s a great percussionist; he is schooled in music. He’s not just a garage musician who came up and learned on his own. He obviously had natural ability, but he took it to another level and actually got a degree in music. So the guy is next level."
The pianist comment got some ears burning and maggots on the Slipknot subreddit have a theory. A user named Les has a theory that the member is musician Michael Pfaff.
Pfaff has previously played with Clown in Clown's side project, Dirty Little Rabbits. Pfaff played keyboards and organs, while Clown played drummed. The duo were the core of the group, and coincidentally introduced to each other by Slipknot DJ Sild Wilson.
Another Reddit user started searching for Pfaff on Instagram and found an account of what is presumed to be Pfaff's wife. There was four accounts his wife follows, and one hashtag she follows – the hashtag is – #tortillaman [LAW AND ORDER MUSIC PLAYS]
But wait, Pfaff's mother is also on Instagram, and she also follows a bunch of hashtags, and they're all having to do with Tortilla man. [LAW AND ORDER MUSIC PLAYS MORE DRAMATICALLY] The posts have since been removed.
Corey Taylor has said "Even if somebody gets it right, we’re not gonna confirm it. It’s one of those things. For us, it’s more about getting the band out there. Because, to be honest, the one thing that kind of reminded us that the band is more important is that even after the album came out, people were still into the band no matter who was in it."
