Jim Root, you done said too much. Yesterday, we posted an interview with the Slipknot guitarist, where he offered a few clues as to who the mysterious new member of Slipknot, dubbed Tortilla Man, could possibly be. It may have been just enough for Slipknot mega-fans to put together who it is.
During the interview with The Art And Span Show, Root said:
“He’s a character, man. I didn’t really know him very well before he started playing with us. But he’s a hell of a musician, man. The guy is a world-class pianist; he’s a great percussionist; he is schooled in music. He’s not just a garage musician who came up and learned on his own. He obviously had natural ability, but he took it to another level and actually got a degree in music. So the guy is next level."
The pianist comment got some ears burning and maggots on the Slipknot subreddit have a theory. A user named Les has a theory that the member is musician Michael Pfaff.
Pfaff has previously played with Clown in Clown's side project, Dirty Little Rabbits. Pfaff played keyboards and organs, while Clown played drummed. The duo were the core of the group, and coincidentally introduced to each other by Slipknot DJ Sild Wilson.
A video of Pfaff playing xylophone sure does look like the movements made by the infamous Tortilla Man:
And, photos do show that Pfaff has a similar build.
But here is the smoking gun. Another Reddit user started searching for Pfaff on Instagram and found an account of what is presumed to be Pfaff's wife. There was four accounts his wife follows, and one hashtag she follows – the hashtag is – #tortillaman [LAW AND ORDER MUSIC PLAYS]
But wait, Pfaff's mother is also on Instagram, and she also follows a bunch of hashtags, and they're all having to do with Tortilla man. [LAW AND ORDER MUSIC PLAYS MORE DRAMATICALLY]
So, is Tortilla Man actually Michael Pfaff? The evidence is there.

To be fair, when it was starting to leak that Jay Weinberg was their new drummer a few years ago, the band also denied it. We'll find out soon enough.
