Kerry King is not a guy who holds back on his honest opinion. A few weeks back when asked about "the spirit of Jeff Hanneman watching over the band" he shot it down saying his late writing partner was now worm food, pissing off some fans.
Now he's ready to piss off some Ghost fans. For some reason, Artisan News decided to ask Kerry his opinion on the throwback band and Kerry did not hold back one bit:
"Dude, I love the imagery… I love it," King responded (see video below). "I just hate the fucking music. I like them [as people]. You know, they've been on many tours with us. I just… I can't [get into their music]. And I tried. I wanna like 'em, and I can't. I got their CD from Brian Slagel from Metal Blade. It was when Gary Holt first started playing with us, and I picked up Gary. And I'm, like, 'Brian said this is awesome, man.' So we put it in, going to practice. It wasn't awesome. It wasn't awesome for me. It wasn't awesome for [Gary] either. I'm, like, 'Well, maybe the first song sucks.' [Laughs] And we went to the next one. It's just not for me. I know GHOST is hugely popular, and I'm very happy for their popularity. And, like I said, [they're] the nicest guys you'll ever meet. It's just not my music. And I've tried so hard. [Laughs]"
A fun little factoid here: Slayer and Ghost share the same management. I can't imagine they are too thrilled that one of their artists, arguably their biggest artist is knocking their hot up and coming band. Or maybe they don't mid the extra publicity. Either way, King was pretty diplomatic in his response. For further context here is the video:

Sorry Kerry, but we respectfully disagree. We fucking love Ghost and their new track has been on loop for us since we got it.
