It has to be hard being that dumb.

The Lincoln Children's Zoo in Lincoln, NE recently installed 50 six-foot-tall fiberglass hand sculptures across the city as part of the Lincoln's Serving Hands project. All 50 have been chronicled here, and you might notice that no. 5 on the list was created by Ian Anthony Laing and is of Spiderman's hands. According to an article in the Lincoln Journal Star, one local Christian woman thought they were forming Devil's horns and wrote to Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird demanding they be taken down.

She even went as far as calling the statue a "hate crime against the church," which is interesting because it's absolutely not. Plus, that woman should also read up on cases like when the Satanic Temple won a case in Florida regarding equal religious representation (or how Satanism is recognized by the U.S. Government as a religion). Not to mention calling a statue of Spiderman's hands a hate crime is pretty outlandish.

City ombudsman Lin Quenzer has since explained to the woman that the statue is both not an issue and not the Devil's horns, and Matt Schulte, executive director of the non-profit behind the art project, added "The sculpture is most definitely not a devil-related sculpture. It clearly has a very playful child-like intent."
