The end of the first part of Stranger Things season 4 featured now-beloved metalhead character Eddie Munson shredding Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" on guitar. Now in a new Instagram post from Metallica themselves, they praise Stranger Things writers and directors Matt and Ross Duffer for the show's overall use of music and the inclusion of "Master Of Puppets."
"The way The Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include 'Master of Puppets' in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away… it's so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn's hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that?
"It's an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie's journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show."
It was also recently revealed that Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo's son Tye Trujillo contributed additional guitar tracks to the song for the show. Considering Tye's immense talent (the kid has filled in for Korn and Suicidal Tendencies, as well as has his own band Ottto), it's not shocking he nailed it! Check out the scene below. Now if Stranger Things ever progresses into the early '90s, maybe we could get some black metal references in there too?
