The Black Sabbath/Bill Ward drama just reached new levels. Just like that Sworn In article about the bassist leaving because he loves model trains, this is not the kind of news I could make up even if I wanted to. Ozzy basically called Bill Ward a fattie. In an interview with the NY Daily News about Black Sabbath and all that's been going on with the band since their reunion, Ozzy was asked how things would've been different if Ward was behind the kit. His response is priceless:
I don’t think he could have done the gig, to be honest. He’s incredibly overweight. A drummer has to be in shape. He’s already had two heart attacks. I don’t want to be responsible for his life.
I really don't even know what else to say about that. Isn't it public knowledge that there wasn't any conclusion on the Ward thing and that it's not fully known why he didn't participate? I think the "fat" comment was just to avoid telling the truth. Plus, it takes a lot of hutzpa for Ozzy to call out another musician for not being able to perform up to snuff when he himself has been criticized mercilessly about not being able to pull off his vocal delivery lately.
Not to be a dick or anything, but check out dudes like Aaron Spears, or even old-school Gene Hoglan. They're not/weren't exactly "healthy" dudes, and they're un-friggin'-believable behind the kit! Ozzy, we're not buying the "fat" comment, though it is funny as hell.
