MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Apologizes For Calling SLAYER Frontman "Tim" Araya

During Donald Trump's inaugural address, one sentence stuck out to MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow. The sentence was "This American carnage stops right here and stops right now." Maddow was reminded of the American Carnage tour, which featured Slayer and Megadeth as headliners and Anthrax and Testament swapping as openers.

Maddow went on a whole diatribe about the history of Tom Araya's neck surgery, which resulted in him no longer being able to headbang, including his signature windmills. One problem. During the segment, she kept referring to Slayer frontman as "Tim Araya." Who the fuck is Tim? The entire 15 minute segment can be seen below:

It's been a month since that segment, and a few nights ago, on February 22nd, Maddow had a moment to apologize. "For more than one month now, I have wallowed in shame over a mistake that I made on inauguration day," she said. "I have felt bad for more than a month. But tonight, perhaps an opportunity for a reprieve, because tonight, right after the show, we are going back to 'American Carnage'. Tonight is our special on Trump, the first month. But tonight, I am going to get 'American Carnage' right. I've got my 'American Carnage' tour t-shirt, I've got Slayer lyrics tattooed on the inside of my eyeballs. Tonight I get a second chance to get at least the metal part of this right."

A massive faux pas by Maddow, but it can be excused, only because I can't think of any other mainstream news show with these constant references to metal. Maddow, most notably, gave a huge shout out to Cannibal Corpse a few years back and had Lars Ulrich on her show.
