Did You Catch BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD During The Super Bowl Last Night?

beavis butthead 2021 paramount

I'm pretty sure Beavis & Butthead made their Super Bowl debut last night, as part of the ensemble cast in the recurring Paramount+ commercials for the new CBS/Viacom streaming service launching March 4th.

It was definitely the first time we've seen Beavis and Butthead animated in almost 10 years, as they climbed the fictional Mount Paramount with other known Paramount fictional characters from Viacom shows, as well as CBS talent like morning news host Gale King and Survivor host Jeff Probst. As the commercial series concludes and they make it up top, they are met by Patrick Stewart and Stephen Colbert who officially announce the new network, which will feature content from CBS, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon and Smithsonian Channel. A new version of Beavis and Butthead "reimagined for Gen Z" has been ordered by MTV's sister station, Comedy Central. Creator Mike Judge announced in June 2020 the show will be returning "as well as additional spin-offs and specials," according to DeadlineThe the duo will be “entering a whole new Gen Z world” dealing with “meta-themes relatable to both new and old fans — Gen X parents and their Gen Z kids.”

The show came back in 2011, and it didn't really miss a beat, so I'm going to remain positive about the news and hope for the best. There was a rumor that there was a new season in limbo in 2014, but nothing happened for almost six years. Perhaps they are reusing some of those old plots. Last year, Judge also spoke of an idea for a sequel to the duo's movie, Beavis & Butt-Head Do America.

Let's remember the time Beavis & Butthead did the Butt Bowl.
