Birth Name: Tomas Thormodsæter Haugen
Along side Ygg (later known as Ihsahn), Samot (later credited as Samoth) started Emperor as their drummer, but would soon become a guitar player for the duration of the band's existence. Despite most black metal stage names being shroud in secrecy or twisted tales of lore, Samoth's name is a simple anagram of his real name Tomas H. (Try reading his name in reverse.)
