Birth Name: Stian Tomt Thoresen
Co-founder of Dimmu Borgir, Shagrath is a multi-instrumentalist who has filled every role in the band at one time, and is now mostly known as Dimmu's frontman/vocalist. In a 2005 interview Shagrath was asked about the origin of his stage name to which he replied "Shagrath is an orc demon from the book Lord of the Rings. I chose the name thirteen years ago, so it's kinda crappy that Lord of the Rings has become so big now. Fortunately it didn't get that much attention in the movie, so it turned out all OK."
