If anything proves Rolling Stone's irrelevancy to music nowadays, it's their just-released readers poll of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time. Spoiler alert: Rolling Stone readers only heard of Metallica, Black Sabbath, Guns N Roses, Iron Maiden, Slayer and Led Zeppelin. If you don't feel like clicking through 11 pages, here is the whole list:
01. Metallica "Master Of Puppets"
02. Black Sabbath "Paranoid"
03. Black Sabbath "Black Sabbath"
04. Iron Maiden "The Number Of The Beast"
05. Metallica "…And Justice For All"
06. Slayer "Reign In Blood"
07. Guns N Roses "Appetite For Destruction"
08. Metallica "Metallica"
09. Led Zeppelin "Led Zeppelin II"
10. Metallica "Ride The Lightning"
Just terrible. Paranoid makes the list but Sabotage doesn't? Also, as my RIP a Livecast co-host, Darren, pointed out, the youngest album on this list came out 20 years ago. So, by Rolling Stone readers' standards, there have been no "all time great" albums in the last 20 years. BOLLOCKS!
