This psychological horror movie from 2012 is an underrated work of art. Excision is a strange tale about a girl who goes on an introspective journey through young adulthood as she develops her sexual identity. Incidentally, she is fascinated by medical procedures so passionately that she begins to work them into sexual fantasies where she is a deranged surgeon. The original NSFW trailer used to promote the movie featured scenes of abject terror, disembowelments and angry teenage girl all set to Nine Inch Nails “Closer”. What other song could better convey that this movie is about the disturbing sex life of a mentally ill woman?
