…And The Nominees For This Year's Rock and Metal Grammy Awards Are…

Disturbed and Beyonce are nominated in the same category.

Disturbed and Beyonce are nominated in the same category.

The nominations for the 59th annual Grammy Awards came in today, and there are definitely some surprises. The show happens Sunday, February 12, 2017 on CBS, and here are the nominees you care about.

First, in the Best Metal Performance category, there are actually notable metal bands this year.

Baroness – "Shock Me"
Gojira – "Silvera"
Korn – “Rotting In Vain”
Megadeth – "Dystopia"
Periphery – "The Price Is Wrong"

That's not all for Gojira though, because they also got nominated for Best Rock Album, which is a huge feat for a metal band. The full nominees for Best Rock Album are:

Blink-182 – California
Cage The Elephant – Tell Me I'm Pretty
Gojira – Magma
Panic! At The Disco – Death Of A Bachelor
Weezer – Weezer

Yes, Gojira is nominated in the same category as Weezer and Blink 182. Meanwhile, Metallica got a nomination for "Best Rock Song" for "Hardwired," which actually would seem more appropriate in the metal category, but regardless, here are the nominations for Best Rock Song:

David Bowie – "Blackstar"
Radiohead – "Burn The Witch"
Metallica – "Hardwired"
Twenty One Pilots – "Heathens"
Highly Suspect – "My Name Is Human"

Meanwhile, Disturbed is nominated in the same category as Beyonce for "Best Rock Performance." What a country! Those nominees are:

Alabama Shakes – "Joe (Live From Austin City Limits)"
Beyoncé Featuring Jack White – "Don't Hurt Yourself"
David Bowie – "Blackstar"
Disturbed – "The Sound Of Silence (Live On Conan)"
Twenty One Pilots – "Heathens"

I feel like it's safe to assume that David Bowie will win every category he is in. But who will win Best Rock Performance? I'm going to bet on Megadeth or Korn, but who do you think will win?
