Looking for something new to listen to? Get acquainted with these tracks from some lesser-known bands released in January 2023 thanks to our monthly Underground Roundup! Abraded – "Unadulterated Perversity"

Abraded is here to get down and dirty with their latest single "Unadulterated Perversity" and their new album of the same name. The woman at the start of the song perfectly sums it all up – "I wanna hear some pervert music!" Grab a copy of Unadulterated Perversity here.

Aerith – "Thy New Design"

Aerith is here to make melodic death metal trendy again with their brand new single "Thy New Design." The single features guest vocals from Lee Mintz of Greylotus and guest drums by Josh Dummer of Buried Realm for maximum melodeath goodness, and was mixed and given artwork by Nick Riggz.

Anachronism – "Contrasts"

Swiss death metal band Anachronism is here to channel all the Ulcerate and Suffocation you could want in your progressive metal with their single "Contrasts" and new record Meanders. Grab a copy of the record here and have your brain turned into mush.

Bastard Grave – "Necrotic Ecstasy"

Swedish death metal unit Bastard Grave will release Vortex Of Disgust on March 31, and is now streaming the disgusting new single "Necrotic Ecstasy." If you're looking to get clobbered by gore, then this one is absolutely for you! Vortex Of Disgust is available for pre-order here.

Dawn Ray'd – "Ancient Light"

UK black metal trio Dawn Ray'd is here to wreck you with their latest single "Ancient Light" off the coming record To Know The Light out March 24. As the band notes, their upcoming record presents "a reimagining of exactly what black metal is and can be in the future." Pre-orders for To Know The Light are available here.

Demonstealer – "Monolith Of Hate"

Demonstealer is now streaming "Monolith of Hate" featuring Anabelle Iratni (Veile, ex-Cradle of Filth) on keys, James Payne (Kataklysm, Hiss From The Moat) on drums, and Martino Garattoni (Ne Obliviscaris) on bass. Pre-orders for Demonstealer's upcoming album The Propaganda Machine are available here.

Distant – "Argent Justice"

Masters of deathcore Distant will release Heritage on February 10 and is now streaming the massive new single "Argent Justice." The single features a whopping 16 guest vocalists, with the full lineup of screaming voices including Angelmaker, Suicide Silence, and Emmure vocalists. Pre-orders for Heritage are available here.

Downfall Of Gaia – "Bodies As Driftwood"

Downfall Of Gaia will release their new record Silhouettes Of Disgust on March 17 and is now streaming the first, miserable single "Bodies As Driftwood." Silhouettes Of Disgust sees the return of founding guitarist Peter Wolff, and pre-orders for the album are available here.

Enforced – "Ultra-Violence"

Enforced is back to destroy you with their latest single "Ultra-Violence" and upcoming record War Remains. The album was produced by Ricky Olson with mixing help from Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Kreator), and is out April 28. Pre-orders are available here.

Fires In The Distance – "Harbinger"

Connecticut-based masters of melodic death metal Fires In The Distance is back with a new single "Harbingers" and a new record Air Not Meant for Us. The single features an orchestral collaboration with Randy Slaugh (Devin Townsend, Tesseract, Periphery), and pre-orders are available here.

Foretoken – "Demon Queller"

Blackened death metal duo Foretoken is here to gallop and riff their way into your ears with their brand new single "Demon Queller." It's the type of single you really can't listen to at a reasonable volume. Foretoken will release their new record Triumphs on March 17, with pre-orders available here.

Full Of Hell & Primitive Man – "Rubble Home"

If you're looking to for the soundtrack to utter ruination, here it is. Primitive Man and Full Of Hell have teamed up for a new record called Suffocating Hallucination due out March 3, and are now streaming the new single "Rubble Home." Pre-orders for Suffocating Hallucination are available here.

Håndgemeng – "The Astronomer"

If you're looking for a particularly spacey brand of hardcore rife with out-of-this-world riffing, then you need more Håndgemeng in your life. The band is now streaming their brilliantly skygazing new single "The Astronomer" from Håndgemeng's upcoming record Ultraritual due out later this year.

Heaven's Gate – "Smear Crusade"

Heaven's Gate is the new Tampa Bay-based hardcore punk band featuring Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste) on vocals, Mike Goo (Warthog) on guitar, Jeff Howe (Reversal of ManHorsewhip) on bass, and Paul Mazurkiewicz (Cannibal Corpse) on drums. It's violent as hell and you need their debut EP, available here.

Hellripper – "Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags"

Hellripper is now streaming the title track to its upcoming record Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags which features some Great Highland Bagpipes performed by Antonio Rodríguez. Hellripper will release Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags on February 17. Pre-orders are available here.

Inherits The Void – "Sullen Laments Of The Wanderer"

Inherits The Void is here to hand the nothingness right over to you with their melodic, yet very blackened single "Sullen Laments Of The Wanderers." The single comes from Inherits The Void's new album The Impending Fall Of The Stars, out now and available here.

Jesus Piece – "Gates Of Horn"

Jesus Piece have dropped a heady single, "Gates of Horn" from their forthcoming LP, …So Unknown, and now, you can check out the video for the track just above. ...So Unknown will be available April 14 via Century Media and right now, a pre-order/pre-save for the album is available here.

Kruelty – "Burn The System"

Kruelty is back to kick your ass into next week with their new single "Burn The System," from their upcoming record Untopia produced by Taylor Young at The Pit Studios (Nails, Xibalba, Section H8). Untopia was given artwork by Norwegian artist Sindre Foss Skancke and is out March 17. Pre-orders are available here.

Lamp Of Murmuur – "Conquerer Beyond The Frenzied Fog"

Mysterious black metal unit Lamp Of Murmuur will release their third full-length record Saturnian Bloodstorm on March 26. You can enter that horrifically blackened realm just a bit right now thanks to the new, swirling single "Conqueror Beyond The Frenzied Fog." Pre-orders for Saturnian Bloodstorm are available here,

Lurk – "The Blooming"

Finnish sludge-meets-doom metal band Lurk is here to make your day about ten times darker than was previously, thanks to their new single "The Blooming." The single is from Lurk's upcoming record Aegis, due out April 7 and available for pre-order here.

Majesties – "In Yearning, Alive"

Majesties is the new band featuring Obsequiae's Tanner Anderson alongside Inexorum's Carl Skildum and Matthew Kirkwold. The band is old-school Gothenburg-styled melodic death metal in the vein of In Flames and At The Gates and it rules. Their debut Vast Reaches Unclaimed is available for pre-order here.

Malleus – "Beyond The Pale"

Malleus' new album The Fires Of Heaven is absolutely worth your time, with "Beyond The Pale" being a perfect example. Lyrically, the The Fires of Heaven deal heavily with the Puritan idea of salvation and the old-school idea that that Satan and his minions lurked in the forests of New England. Nothingness – "Catapulted Into Hyperspace"

Nothingness' new album Supraliminal covers everything from skronky Gorguts death metal to downright brutal Iniquity-styled passages, and then reaches out into the void of infinity for some cosmic black metal to top things off. If you're not listening to Nothingness, you're fucking up. Get Supraliminal here.

Omega Infinity – "To The Stars"

Omega Infinity, the project featuring instrumentalist Tentakel P. (Enmerkar, Todtgelichter) and Xenoyr (Antiqva, Ne Obliviscaris), is now streaming their cosmic new single "To The Stars." The single is from the coming Omega Infinity record The Anticurrent due out February 24. Pre-orders are available here.

Oozing Wound – "The Good Times (I Don't Miss 'Em)"

There is nothing not to love about Oozing Wound. Their new record is called We Cater To Cowards, one of the singles is called "The Good Times (I Don't Miss 'Em)," and there's just absolutely fucking filthy riffs all over the place. Noise rock forever. Grab a copy of We Cater To Cowards here.

Predatory Void – "*(struggling..)"

Predatory Void is guitarist Lennart Bossu (Amenra, Oathbreaker), vocalist and tattoo artist Lina R, bassist Tim De Gieter (Amenra, Doodseskader, Much Luv Studio), guitarist Thijs De Cloedt (Cobra The Impaler, ex-Aborted), and drummer Vincent Verstrepen. Catch Predatory Void between April 20 and 23 at the Roadburn Festival.

Sermon – "Golden"

Blending melodies and melancholic doom, Sermon is now streaming their single "Golden" off the forthcoming record Of Golden Verse. If you need something to get you nice and downtrodden, Of Golden Verse is out March 31 and is available for pre-order here.

Siege Of Power – "Force Fed Fear"

Siege Of Power is vocalist Chris Reifert (Autopsy, Violation Wound, Abscess), guitarist Paul Baayens (Asphyx, ex-Hail Of Bullets), bassist Theo van Eekelen (ex-Hail Of Bullets), and drummer Bob Bagchus (ex-Asphyx, Soulburn). Unfelled – "The Opposer"

Unfelled, the band featuring D. (Woods of Desolation, Remete), Mitch (Austere, Dearthe), and Vlad (Drudkh, Windswept), will release their debut full-length album Pall Of Endless Perdition on March 10. The band is now streaming the first single "The Opposer" alongside a dizzying, war-heavy music video. Pre-orders here.

Viscera – "Rats With Wings"

Viscera has returned to us all with a new single "Rats With Wings" and a new record Carcinogenesis. The new record is the first to feature guitarist Charlie Michael, whose six-stringed magic you'll hear below. Pre-orders for Carcinogenesis are available here.
