Gimme Metal Program Director Brian Turner delivers the week's top 5 office buzz-worthy tracks.

Rhythm Of Fear – "Insidious System"

Razor-precise riffage and lyrical content flying in the face of corruption exploding from this cut from Jacksonville thrashers Rhythm of Fear in the advent of their newest opus Fatal Horizons. Triumphant from a hometown gig last week with Exodus and Death Angel, Rhythm of Fear lock into some similar pathways of multi-faceted trash destruction as those bands, and you can catch them on their Gimme takeover Tuesday October 11 on our netwaves right before the LP hits! Get it on here via Gimme Metal.

Daeva – "Passion Under the Hammer"

That monster riff! Philadelphia continues to ascend to the new capital of the craziest, most unhinged metal with Daeva with three members emanating from the also-awesome Crypt Sermon. Ungodly vocals, a messy black/thrash attack, hear these guys take on a guest DJ special on Gimme Friday October 21, mark your cal! Get it on vinyl here via Gimme Metal.

Cabal – "Exit Wound"

Cabal are formidable Danish crushers. Flanked with creepy atmospheric effects, this one wastes no time kicking it with severe gut-punch topped off with a barking madman, though never really eschewing some kind of mutant catchiness that should get the pits moving in unison. Their forthcoming Magno Interitus (Nuclear Blast, October 21) and heavy tour regimen should continue to put them on the map, plus the LP will offer up some heady guest appearances (Trivium's Matt Heafy, Polaris' Jamie Hails among others) to spice up the loot. They also guest DJ on Gimme Wednesday, October 19. Get it on vinyl here via Gimme Metal.

-(16)- – "Misfortune Teller"

Oddly enough this one lyrically starts with an eviction notice being served in the Florida aftermath of Hurricane Irma. -(16)-, thirty years down the line still know how to direct rage from deep within the quagmire they drop down into, taking root in the muck and spinning around their arsenal of sludge and misanthropy like few can. Vocalist Bobby Ferry is a masterful MC taking you on a topical tour of all the woes of modern American life, the band creating a maelstrom around him with precision. They return for their second Gimme guest takeover in later November, upon the release of Into the Dust (Relapse, November 18)! Not to be missed. Get it on vinyl here via Gimme Metal.

Gomorra – "War Of Control"

Swiss thrash meets Priest? I colorful amalgamation of classic styles appear in the latest from this troupe, which features Destruction's amazing axeman Damir Eskic in the mix. Love Jonas Ambühl's swing from gravelly groans to soaring falsetto, the fantastic rhythm section, and the sheer ease in which they encapsulate the variety of spine-tingle moments of their metal fandom into their own channels. Their sophomore effort Demon of Souls isn't out til December, but this is a mighty fine preview.
