MATT CAMERON (SOUNDGARDEN, PEARL JAM) Streams New Album Featuring MELVINS

Fairly sludgy.

GSC

Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron is now streaming his new solo album Gory Scorch Cretins. Both the album name and artwork is a reference to Melvins' 1987 EP Gluey Porch Treatments, which is fitting considering the entire band also plays on Gory Scorch Cretins.

Gory Scorch Cretins features Melvins vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne, drummer Dale Crover, bassist and vocalist Steven McDonald, and frequent Melvins collaborator Toshi Kasai alongside producer Nate Yaccino and Meagan Grandall of Lemolo. Gory Scorch Cretins was originally released as a 12" for Record Store Day Black Friday 2023, and is finally available digitally.

"I have been a massive Melvins fan since I first saw them play live in Seattle around 1985," said Cameron of the album. "They were a huge influence on me as a musician and big part of our local Seattle burgeoning underground rock music scene in the 80s.

"I reconnected with the Melvins in 2019 when they performed at the Chris Cornell tribute concert in Los Angeles. After the show, I emailed Buzz and asked if he, Dale, Steven and Toshi could help me record some solo material I had kicking around.

"I also collaborated with Seattle musician/producer Nate Yaccino and Meagan Grandall on this release. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, completely dug the results and decided to pay homage to the Melvins by reimagining the artwork (with their permission) from their groundbreaking record Gluey Porch Treatments. Enjoy."
