Sometimes you just need some happy go lucky, heavy folk tunes, don't you think? The world is super serious (read in Al Gore's voice) right now, music is a great release from that. That's what Protokult are here to help with. Protokult's new album Transcending the Ruins releases October 1st, but while you wait the next week, the band have decided to premiere their second single, "Troubled Lad (Slainte Mhaith)".

The new song is nothing short of a good time about living life to the fullest. Drinking, hanging out, and jamming to some great tunes. This time, just happens to include a fiddle, and still be heavier than most music you listen to.

Discussing the new song, Protokult provide a bit of back story: "This song is a brief account of our former Irish-Canadian keyboardist who had to leave the band in order to pursue his Gaelic studies at Harvard. He was and is dearly missed and this song deals with integrating into modern multicultural society, particularly those who have multiple backgrounds/ethnicities."

The song is free to check out below, don't forget to pick up Transcending the Ruins through Protokult's Bandcamp, every little bit helps these days. Keep safe, keep it heavy, and check back next Wednesday for another edition of Extreme of the Extreme!
