Back in 2012, Seattle's Bell Witch burst onto the metal scene with Longing, a master class in heaviness and atmosphere that was created with only a bass guitar, drums, and vocals. Now, the duo is preparing to release its sophomore effort, titled Four Phantoms, on Profound Lore Records, and the first offering from the album is the track "Judgement, In Fire: I – Garden (Of Blooming Ash)." The track opens with three minutes of crushing funeral doom, but eventually mutates into a soundscape of tolling bass guitars and forlorn singing. "Judgement, In Fire" clocks in at a massive ten minutes in length, and it demands patience as much as fortitude to properly enjoy it. Four Phantoms is set for release sometime in mid-April. Until then, turn your speakers all the way up and let Bell Witch destroy you will to live.
