Halsey has hardly made her love of rock and metal a secret over the years. She's worked with Nine Inch Nails and Bring Me The Horizon on new music, she's dressed as Marilyn Manson for Halloween, but clearly her love of all things heavy goes further back than that.
In a recent post to TikTok, In Dissonant drummer Christian Leyva managed to ask Halsey about her past with hardcore. Halsey noted that she actually booked a bunch of hardcore shows in New Jersey back in the day, culminating with one featuring August Burns Red and The Devil Wears Prada.
"I mean I super fuck with hardcore music," said Halsey in the clip. "I used to promote hardcore shows in Jersey before I started making music. I did a lot of hardcore, but then also like, some of the more commercial hardcore. The biggest show I ever booked, I was like 16 – the biggest show I ever booked was August Burns Red and The Devil Wears Prada. Like I said, a little more commercial. My senior yearbook quote was a Defeater lyric. So you guessed right, I was for sure a hardcore kid."
Halsey also commented on the video, obviously pretty stoked she got to chat a little about hardcore: "This was a really cool moment in my day that day :) thank you so much."
