OZZY OSBOURNE Doesn't Think He's Heavy Metal

Ask anybody who knows anything about heavy metal and they'll tell you that Black Sabbath are the forefathers. That they're first, self-titled album started a revolution. If it weren't for Sabbath, we'd never get all the bands that came after them like Metallica and Slayer and in turn all the bands that came after them, be it PanteraLamb of God or Whitechapel.

But there's one person who disagrees with you and his name is Ozzy Osbourne. When it comes to "heavy metal," Ozzy just doesn't see it.

In a new interview with CNN, Osbourne was asked how it felt to be considered the forefather of metal and he responded:

"I have never ever ever been able to attach myself to the word 'heavy metal' — it has no musical connotations. If it was heavy rock, I could get that, but the '70s was kind of like a bluesy thing, the '80s was kind of bubblegum-frosted hair, multicolored clothes and the '90s was kind of grungy. People come up to me and say, 'Your Sabbath work was a big influence on me.' I could go, 'Oh, yeah, I can see that,' but other bands… what part of that is inspired by us? Some of it is just angry people screaming down a microphone!"

For some reason, I imagine Ozzy listening to something like Suffocation and being like "inspired this?!" Yes, Ozzy you did! No point in being ashamed!
