Our brosephs at MetalSucks (via Metal Bastard) have alerted us that a bootleg of a MASTODON track called "Divinations" has leaked. The bootleg comes from the band's appearance on last year's Bonnaroo festival. While the audio is pretty low-fi, it does get me really really pumped for their new CD, Crack the Skye, which should see a release soon. What do you guys think? More info on the CD can be found here.
UPDATE: The MP3 below was replaced with a nice message for our friends at MetalSucks, but we did find another version of the MP3 here
Way back in March we posted that Florida tech-death experts, INTO THE MOAT have announced that they put the finishing touches on their new record. Since then, the band has almost been M.I.A., but over the holiday break they finally resurfaced with a new MP3 for the track "From 1000 Meters" (available now on their MySpace page) but also with a firm release date for their next LP, The Campaign: February 17th.
At a recent stop of the JOB FOR A COWBOY/ALL SHALL PERISH/ANIMOSITY/ANNOTATION OF AN AUTOPOSY show, we were hanging out in a backstage RV (don't ask) with some of the bands, smoking some ganj when these two outtakes occurred.
First off, Lorenzo Antonucci of SWORN ENEMY and Mamaluke TV showed up at the show, completely intoxicated and our cameras just happened to be rolling:
Later on, after Lorenzo went to Chipotle, we were talking to Leo and Frank of ANIMOSITY and they told this story about their experience on the Price is Right:
2008 was a great year for ridiculously silly metal viral clips to be passed around to distract you from doing your work. We thought we would take a look back at our favorite 10 metal viral clips from last year:
10) The Meshuggah Baby
This is absolutely the most metal baby on the internet. No other clip will make you simultaneously "aww" and raise your horns at the same time!
9) The King of Metal Fucks With TESTAMENT Fans
When we let comedian and all around King of Metal, Dave Hill loose on a bunch of Testament fans right before the Bay Area thrashers played NY. Questioning their trueness, and hitting them with a barrage of "What the fuck?" type questions, the fans didn't know what him them.
California's reigning avant-metal kings ISIS have been performing a new song, entitled "20 Minutes/40 Years" on some European dates. The song, which revels in the spacey, progressive doom metal sounds that Isis mastered on their past few records, can be enjoyed in a fan-filmed London rendition below.
A studio version is expected to see the light of day on Isis' upcoming album for Ipecac Recordings (the absurdly awesome label co-run by MIKE PATTON,) set for release this year.
Short feature recorded on December 28, 2008 at the last of three Bouncing Souls "Home for the Holidays" shows at The Arcade at Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ. This show also featured The Gaslight Anthem, Gimmie Drugs and Let Me Run. Meet some friendly faces and enjoy the Souls playing "Quick Check Girl", recorded directly from the sound board live at the show.
INTRONAUT, a band responsible for one of my favorite releases of the last year, have just posted a few hilarious tour diary clips from this summer's Ultimate Brodeo Tour which featured them, Behold… The Arctopus and Mouth of the Architect. Check out all three diaries below. If you need a little more INTRONAUT, check out the interview and live footage we conducted with the band recently.
Oh fuck yes! For all of us who sadly missed GWAR's Electile Dysfunction Tour, the fine folks over at HardTimes.CA snagged a glorious medly of the scumdogs of the universe at their finest. See John McCain get his ass handed to him and much more below.
And for even more GWAR goodness, check out yet another awesome interview with Oderous. Make sure to watch all the way to end, as Oderus gives his own rendition of an R Kelly song.
Washington D.C. based news-blog DCist posted this really cool mini-documentary of D.C. based metal band, DARKEST HOUR getting ready to play their hometown show. Check it out below…
Time to gather up the family for another Metal Injection Holiday Special! This year's special is called Season's Bleedings. What happens when two stoners try to summon a sexy succubus on Christmas Eve? Certainly, not what they bargained for! This was certainly Metal Injection's biggest production yet. Be on the lookout for special cameos from Metal Misha and Sinister Sasha. Click here to watch the special!
Attention, all you tech/grind heads. In case you missed it in the last few days we just posted 9 killer clips from the New York stop of the ORIGIN/MISERY INDEX/FUCK THE FACTS tour. If you haven't checked out the awesome clips yet, here is what you missed…
One of my biggest regrets of the last year is missing Metal Misha's greatest nemisises, GWAR when they came around New York. Luckily, the people over at Metal-Rules had a chance to interview Oderous and band manager Sleazy P. Martini at a recent stop and the resulting video is awesome.
During the interview, Orderous does not hold back taking a chance to take shots at everybody from Kerry King of Slayer to Metallica, Slipknot, and a really wide load on Lordi. They also mentioned that next year will mark the 25th Anniversary of GWAR and all bohabs can look forward to a new record. Watch the interview below…
The MELVINS are fresh off their unbelievable ATP Winter festival showcase that they curated with Mike Patton. If you missed it, too bad; for three nights the UK was home to an unbelievable lineup that included MASTODON, ISIS, BUTTHOLE SURFERS, THE DAMNED, FANTOMAS, MELVINS, SQUAREPUSHER, THE LOCUST, BIG BUSINESS and tooooo many more amazing artists to name. Now King Buzzo and friends are turning up in the unlikeliest of places - namely performing a set with a puppet on the Pancake Mountain children's show. Needless to say, I don't really mind knowing there's a kids show out there that's letting the MELVINS teach America's children about music. Enjoy!
What do you all think of them? I'm just wandering because I think they're fucking awesome and ive never heard any of you say anything about them, let...
