MADONNA covers PANTERA; PANTERA fans reach 'New Level' of stupidity

Posted by RobInjection on May 13th, 2008

First off all, never did I think that I would be blogging about Madonna covering a metal band like ever. But she did! At a recent show, somewhere (who cares really?) Madonna decided to pull out a little "New Level" riffage in homage to one of the greatest shredmasters of our time, Dimebag Darrell. And, much like with Fall Out Boy covering Pantera, some Pantera fans are not pleased (or intelligent). Here's what some loyal Cowboys From Hell are saying over at Blabbermouth:

anybody who thinks this is cool should never ever post a negative post about any of the bands from the 80's again!the fact that the she is holding a guitar does not make her a rocker and just because it happens to be a pantera riff does not make it a tribute or cool. she belongs in the dance hall of fame not the rock and roll hall. I did not even watch this garbage but more than likely she is lip syching like everything else. the people praising her for this are the same ones who trashed nickelback for making a real dime tribute song and they used his solo on the track.just another pub. stunt by this overrated attention whore.

Actually, the fact that she played the riff does make it a tribute. Thats actually exactly what it was. Why are you commenting on something you didn't even bother watching? I've never trashed Nickelback for making a Dime tribute, I trash them cause they absolutely blow.

There's NO way she's actually playing anything by talented Musicians.
F**k me, will wonders never cease, I wonder if we'll see Metallica Vogue!

No, but we've seen them do country.

This is Lame, I think she should give up on her 'career' particularly if she's going to try this sort of thing. artists have their place. Dime's was on stage, Madonna's is in obscurity. Much like her husbands film making career.

Ok, is this guy seriously trying to say that Pantera is more popular than Madonna? Umm, really? Where do you live, kid?

Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of people in that thread that thought this was actually pretty cool, and it was. Do you think when Vinnie Paul hears about this he's going to be like, oh that bitch, how dare she? No! He's going to be flattered that one of the biggest pop stars in the world recognizes who the fuck Pantera is! There are always going to be fans who cling to this music as theirs and find it blasphemous that anybody else wants to enjoy it. Get over yourselves.

AS I LAY DYING thrash it up in new video

Posted by metalinjection on May 12th, 2008

AS I LAY DYING has debutted the new video of their album "An Ocean Between Us" for the track "Within Destruction". The clip was directed by Jerry Club. Honestly, I was into AILD when Shadows Are Security came out, and I thought it was a great metalcore album. Then, they seemed to enter a rut where everything they put out sounded the same. But this video is quite thrashy and its making me want to go back and listen to An Ocean Between Us. Good job, AILD!

METALLICA now sounds like a Metallica Cover Band

Posted by metalinjection on May 5th, 2008

So, METALLICA posted new footage of a recent rehearsal of what is probably my favorite Metallica song, "Creeping Death" and honestly, if somebody played this for me without the video showing these old farts trying to hammer it out, I would've told you that this group of 15 year olds really need to practice more if they want to sound anything like Metallica. Seriously, dudes, what happened to you? Were you so tied up in lawsuits, divorces and rehab that you actually forgot how to play your instruments? Stop embarrassing yourselves. Dave Mustaine can still shred like nobodies business, and he had to quit playing for 3 years!!! What's your excuse for blowing so hard?

In other 'tallica news, the band recently announced a new site, MissionMetallica.com, where they will offer fans a chance to experience the band's new album before it's done. The site is supposed to launch on May 12th. Exciting!

ARSIS' "We Are The Nightmare" may prevent you from sleeping

Posted by RobInjection on May 2nd, 2008

Our good friend (and James Malone look-a-like) David Brodsky has just posted the 2nd, more br00tal version of the new ARSIS video and it looks absolutely awesome. Check it out above. We just caught ARSIS this weekend at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, and after getting bumped up to the main stage, the band destroyed it. We also had a chance to speak with guitarist/vocalist/mastermind James Malone and we should have that up really soon. For now, watch the damn video already!

Video of the Day: Plant Vochestra (BTBAM/Red Chord side project)

Posted by RobInjection on April 3rd, 2008

During our interview with BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME from last year's Saints and Sinners fest, vocalist Tommy Rogers mentioned a side project he had formed with Gunface and Greg Weeks of THE RED CHORD called PLANT VOCHESTRA. It is officially the greatest side project in the history of all mankind. This is clearly the product of being really tired and really bored on tour and trying to come up with the most random thing ever, and it totally clicks in the most obnoxious of ways. So check out the above clip, and if you want more, Part 2 of this performance is also available.
