AEW's Malakai Black Enlists Belgian Doom Metal Masters AMENRA For New Entrance Theme

tommy end

When was the last time you heard doom metal on nationally broadcast television? Well, the answer is yesterday (Aug. 4th), if you watched All Elite Wrestling's Dynamite on TNT, and saw the debut of Malakai Black (the former Aleister Black in WWE and Tommy End on the Indies).

Black came out to the tune of Belgian doom metal masters Amenra and their song "Ogentroost" which was released on the album De Doorn via Relapse Records earlier this year. The entire entrance had an eery black metal vibe in general, and Black came out with an incredible skull with deer horns headpiece. There were only three spotlights, one at the entrance, by the ropes, and in the ring. Otherwise, it was all black./ The vibes were legit.

You can see the entrance below. "Ogentroost" translates to "eye comfort," and Black's character has a constantly evolving bad eye. "Ogentroost" is also the plant eyebright, which is known to be parasitic. Could it be possible foreshadowing for the character?

Black is definitely somebody who pays attention to underground heavy metal. I interviewed him recently on SquaredCirclePit and he talked about many of the bands he enjoys hearing. Here's that excerpt:
