THE ABSENCE Melodically Eliminate Toxic People In "Misery Trophies"

Melodic death metal in 2018 sounds pretty great.

It's been eight years, but we're getting a new The Absence record in 2018! The band will release their new effort A Gift For The Obsessed on March 23 and you can check out the new song and video "Misery Trophies" above.

Vocalist Jamie Stewart says the song is about "the toxic people that we all have in our lives. The people who cannot wait to be the bearers of bad news – individuals so devoid of joy themselves, that they revel in the delivery of misery to others."

Everyone has one of those lovely rays of sunshine in their lives, and this one is for them! The video for "Misery Trophies" was directed and shot by Deidra and Jeramie Kling and edited by Tommy Jones (Slayer, Testament) at VideoHammer.
