SLIPKNOT Putting Together Demos For Their New Album; To Release Greatest Hits in July

Corey Taylor, a man who two years ago said it's too soon to talk about Slipknot recording, is now finally at the point where he can discuss the progress Slipknot is making. The healing has begun! It makes sense, since the band recently got together to celebrate the two year anniversary of the tragic passing of bassist and founder Paul Gray. Here is what the Slipknot frontman recently revealed:

First up, this "mysterious" video highlight DJ Sid Wilson popped up on Youtube:

Turns out this is the beginning of a promo cycle for a Slipknot greatest hits album, which Taylor says he believes will be released on July 17th. This makes total sense as the band is spending the whole summer on the biggest festival tour around, Mayhem Fest, so they might as well have something to promote while on the road.

Then, Corey Taylor finally commented on new Slipknot music:

To anyone asking, Slipknot is not currently working on an album. Yet. We are putting together demos, but we're not recording. Yet.

We know the band will not hit the studio until 2013 the earliest, since Taylor will be busy in the second half of the year with Stone Sour. Joey Jordison has been writing music, and will hopefully present it to the rest of the band this summer.

A few months back, Clown explained the current writing process since most of the band members are not together:

Everyone in the band is writing all the time. Whether it's a micro-cassette recorder or a memo on your iPhone or Corey writing random things he invents in his head on a piece of paper or Joey saying 'I got nothing to do, I'm gonna go in the studio with all these ideas. I'm going to rent out a studio for a month and a half and I'm going to fucking write.'

Who's excited at all this Slipknot news? What songs do you think will make their "Greatest Hits" collection?
