There hasn't been a new Ozzy Osbourne album since 2010's Scream. There's good reason for that… Ozzy's been pretty busy with this Black Sabbath reunion. But now that Sabbath are playing what they promise are their final shows, it looks like Ozzy wants to get in the swing of things again with his solo band.
Keyboardist Adam Wakeman, who has played with Ozzy since 2004 (fun fact, Adam's dad Rick also played the keys in Ozzy's solo band), spoke to eonmusic about Ozzy's future solo aspirations:
“Well [Black Sabbath are] finishing [their farewell tour] on February 4th, and then we’ll see what happens with Ozzy after that. I mean, he wants to do another tour, he wants to do another album, but there’s going to be a period of time when he needs a rest, so yeah, hopefully we’ll be back out.”
I feel if anybody knows the deal it would be Adam.
I know you might be asking why does Ozzy even need to write and record a new solo album to go tour? Just tour. The answer is money. This is me speculating, but I recall when Scream came out, that single was licensed EVERYWHERE – football games, commercials, award shows. Ozzy makes songs not to sell to his adorning audience, but to brands to stick in their candy commercials.
