MIKAEL STANNE Explains Why THE HALO EFFECT Isn't Doing A New EP, New Album In 2024 Instead

"I think you can consider this album as the continuation of Days Of The Lost."

The Halo Effect 2021

We recently reported that The Halo Effect – the band featuring Dark Tranquility vocalist Mikael Stanne alongside former In Flames members Jesper Strömblad, Peter Iwers, Daniel Svensson, and Niclas Engelin – had completed the creative process for their second record, and were in the mixing stages. In a recent interview with Finland's Chaoszine, Stanne elaborated about the album, which is now done.

"The Halo Effect is very much controlled by emotion and love, so, it’s fast, but it’s also meticulous. We were originally supposed to do an EP, instead of a full-length album, but we kinda had a change of heart. Our sophomore album will now be released at the beginning of 2024, it’s mixed, mastered, it’s done. It’s really exciting because we worked really hard to fit into all of our schedules to make sure that the album was kind of done in time, and then we figured out a release schedule and a release date and all that stuff. We did a lot during a short period of time, which ended up being fantastic."

“The album is very focused, and you can, you can probably tell that whereas the first time was kind of, like, 'Hey, let's figure out what we wanna do,' this now is kind of, like, 'This is exactly what we wanna do.' I can’t wait for people to hear it, because I am extremely very proud of it. I think you can consider this album as the continuation of Days Of The Lost” added Stanne. "I can't wait to have people hear it because I'm incredibly proud of it."

“There are some cool experimentation on it, but some of the songs are just like straight up, easy, and to the point. The writing process was very similar, I’d get demos from Niclas and Jesper while I was touring, and of course, Peter and Daniel were also involved, and it was very natural, and in this case, Jesper wrote even more than in our debut album. It's kind of fun when I get the demo version of a song, and I think 'Okay, I know exactly what to do and I can finish it in a matter of days.' That's sometimes how it feels. You just hear a song, and you go, like, 'Yep, I know this already. I know exactly what to do. And it's gonna be great."

The Halo Effect recently streamed a documentary looking at the creation of their debut album Days Of The Lost, and dropped an album B-side "Path Of Fierce Resistance" earlier this year.
