Mastodon and Lamb Of God may have some sort of joint new material coming on September 12. Mastodon just took to Instagram to post the below video with the text "A flood is coming… and most of you will die" alongside the date, September 12, 2024 in Roman Numerals. Both Mastodon's and Lamb Of God's names appear on either side of the numbers and Lamb Of God is tagged in the post. As of press time, Lamb Of God has not shared a corresponding teaser.
So who knows if this is a split or one big joint track, but I guess we'll find out next week. Personally, I'm hoping it's Mastodon and Lamb Of God covering each other's songs from Leviathan and Ashes Of The Wake – both bands would do the other's music justice, and they both just heard each other play those albums every single night on tour. So it's not like they're unknown songs.
Lamb Of God has been quiet about new material lately, while Mastodon has not. Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor said in a very recent interview with Rock 100.5 The KATT FM "there's lots of new material and lots and lots of new stuff. There might be something new coming out really, really soon." So… maybe September 12 is soon?
