MARILYN MANSON Explains Why SAY10 Didn't Come Out On Valentine's Day

He just wasn't happy with the way SAY10 came out, basically.

Back in July 2016, Marilyn Manson revealed that he'd be releasing a new album titled SAY10 on February 14, 2017, or Valentine's Day. In November 2016, he offered some more details on the album and even teased the album by beheading then-president elect Donald Trump. Valentine's Day came and went without the album being released, and we eventually found out it was re-titled Heaven Upside Down and didn't have a publicly known release date.

So what the hell happened? Well according to Manson in an interview with Loudwire, he basically wasn't happy with the final product and really wanted to round out the entire story being told through the music.

"If the record came out when I intended it to, when I thought it was finished back in February, it would not have ‘Revelation #12,’ ‘Heaven Upside Down’ or ‘Saturnalia.’ Those are three of the most key songs that really tell the story. Those lyrics were all written, but I had not found a home for them. Those three songs take place in the three places where if it were a film, it’s the opening, it’s the middle and it’s the ending. Then there’s the song after ‘Heaven Upside Down,’ it’s sort of the end title credits where it’s really surmising the story of the record, which is to be interpreted by the listener.

"I wanted to draw people in sonically and lyrically. I’m glad. This record was meant to come out now, for whatever reason. Things had to happen in my life, everything had to happen for a reason for it to come out now."

You can hear four songs from Heaven Upside Down performed live, and you can actually see Manson perform said songs on his upcoming fall tour! In the meantime, nothing concrete is known about Heaven Upside Down.
