Jesu, featuring Justin Broadrick and Ted Parsons of Godflesh, are teasing their fifth studio album Everyday I Get Closer to the Light! It's pretty doom-drenched and uplifting… which is weird, but I swear it works!
Everyday I Get Closer to the Light comes out on September 24 via Avalance Records, and the song you're hearing in the above video is a track called "Homesick." It makes me feel like a pretty bad metal fan, but I've never once listened to Jesu or Godflesh, though this teaser has me convinced that I should be doing the exact opposite of that. I dig that there's equal parts down-tuned sludginess and bright cleans mixed in with just one song. If diversity were a game, it appears as though Jesu are playing to win.
