James Hetfield hoped Metallica would get their new album out this fall and it looks like he might get his wish.
German newspaper Bild reports the album will be released on October 14th. Neither the band nor their management have confirmed the date, but the timeline adds up.
The album is done being recorded and was being mixed last month. Surely, by this point it is up to the mastering phase and then all that's left is production. And, the band has been ramping up it's promo so we could be hearing new music sooner than later.
If I had to make a guess, I'd assume Metallica might premiere a new track during their big stadium show next month at the newly constructed US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. It's a big platform to unleash a new single. Of course, it wouldn't be the first single, since we've already heard a new track, "The Lords of Summer."
