Welcome to July junkies. The month is starting off a little quiet but there are still a few tasty releases from one of the bands name-dropped in "Metal By Numbers" by Brian Posehn, a fantastic band that'll reignite memories of your father, and more. To the metals…
The Dead Rabbitts – Shapeshifter
Genre: Metalcore
Origin: Phoenix, Arizona
Label: Tragic Hero

Prior to this entry I knew nothing about this band. Apparently, they're a supergroup featuring members of Blessthefall, Escape The Fate, and others. After hearing the result, I'm not surprised to find out who is involved. Their debut album sounds just like the sum of all it's parts and will probably sell well through your local Hot Topic. I can see the angry comments now for including this…

Drunk Dad – Ripper Killer
Genre: Noisy Hardcore/Sludge
Origin: Portland, Oregon
Label: Eolian Empire

I toss the word "chaotic" around in reviews I write, and I've never meant it more than now. This band is chaos. Imagine The Dillinger Escape Plan mixed with Red Fang then take away most of the melodic sing-along parts. A fascinating release that is worth your time if you're looking for something different and weird in the best ways.

Every Time I Die – From Parts Unknown
Genre: Southern Metalcore/Crossover
Origin: Buffalo, New York
Label: Epitaph

Every Time I Die is just a cool fucking band. They're back with another album full of punk attitude, southern swagger, and their noisy metal. Stream the whole thing here, and check out the included video for a sloth doing coke and some full-frontal nudity.
Madball – Hardcore Lives
Genre: Hardcore
Origin: New York, New York
Label: Black N Blue
Buy now on Amazon.com
These long-running hardcore legends are still here, and they're still hardcore as fuck. This album sounds like someone beating the shit out of you while screaming anthems of self-determination in two to three minute chunks. It's exactly what NYHC should sound like.
