Megadeth just released their most critically acclaimed record in many years, Dystopia, last year. At the time, the band recorded with Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler. Adler, obviously, couldn't commit full time to the band, so when he stepped down, Megadeth were joined by former Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren. And, it looks like Dave is itching to get back in the studio.
Dave was interviewed by No Brown M&Ms and noted that he wants to get back in the studio by the end of the year:
“We plan on going back in the studio, we’re probably gonna go back in and start throwing some ideas around at the end of the year. We’re thinking about November or December.”
The reason is simple. He wants to record and play with Dirk:
“As good as [Chris] Adler was, Dirk’s feet are more advanced and I didn’t think that was possible because Chris is such a great drummer. There’s a reason why Chris recommended Dirk. I love him for that, he’s a really solid friend for making that recommendation. A lot of guys wouldn’t do that, but he’s a true friend. [Dirk] is one of the most pleasant, easy to get along with guys I’ve ever met in my life … I’ve never, ever, ever seen him not smile.”
It will be interesting to see and hear what Megadeth sound like with Dirk behind the kit for new music. I'm guessing we wouldn't actually hear it until late 2018 at the earliest.
